The Foreign Ministry has advised the following in regards to the implementation of the biometric passport system:
Commencing 1.12.2009 it will NO LONGER be possible to apply for a Norwegian passport at an Honorary Consulate. After this date, only the Embassy may accept applications for Norwegian Passports in our jurisdiction. Applications for passports must from this date be submitted in person at this Embassy.
Commencing 1.1.2010 applicants will not be able to submit applications for personal numbers and passports at the same time. Applicants must have a personal number before a passport application is submitted. Applications for personal numbers can as previously be made through this Embassy via the Consulates.
The reason for these changes is the Schengen requirement for biometric data in passports.
